Met Dept forecasts showers and strong winds today
Sri Lanka, July 8 -- Several spells of showers are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
In its weather forecast issued at 5.30 a.m. today, the Department said mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the island.
Meanwhile, strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North Central, Central, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces, as well as in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions in areas likely to experience strong winds.
