Sri Lanka, May 17 -- Calls are mounting for the implementation of formal mental health safeguards for suspects involved in the ongoing high-profile pharmaceutical-related case linked to former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukkella, as the lengthy trial approaches its final stage before the Colombo High Court.

Specialist Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa has urged judicial and health authorities to consider immediate psychological assessments for all accused persons in the case, warning that prolonged legal proceedings may be contributing to serious mental health strain among those on trial.
