Sri Lanka, April 9 -- The capacity of the Maussakele and Castlereagh hydro power reservoirs are fast dwindling due to the prevailing dry weather experienced in the central hills.
Engineers in Charge said the water level in the Maussakele reservoir stood 47 ft below the spill level and that of Castlereagh reservoir 43.8 ft below spill level by last morning.
The Laxapana, New Laxapana, Polpitiya, Canyon, Wimalasurendra and Broadland hydropower complexes are fed by the two reservoirs.
As the water level declined, the ruins of the old Maskeliya town including several places of religious worship which were submerged have risen to the view.
