Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Police have found that the driver arrested in connection with the fatal multi-vehicle accident in Mattakkuliya yesterday was driving under the influence of cannabis at the time of the crash.

Three people were killed and 10 others seriously injured in the accident that occurred in the Mattakkuliya area last night (16).

According to police, the accident occurred when the car, which was travelling at high speed, collided with several vehicles on the road.

The car reportedly crashed into three three-wheelers and four motorcycles during the incident.

The injured were rushed to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment, where three of them later succumbed to their injuries.
