Sri Lanka, Sept. 16 -- A new Rs. 600 million Accident and Emergency Treatment Unit is being constructed at the Mannar District General Hospital, with construction commencing today (16) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The project is being funded through a grant from the Government of India and is expected to strengthen emergency healthcare services available to people in Mannar.

The new unit will be equipped with modern medical facilities and is expected to expand the hospital's capacity to provide accident and emergency treatment.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2028.
