Man trampled to death by wild elephant
Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- An individual on his way to work in the early hours of yesterday had been trampled to death by a wild elephant at Ambana junction in Naula, Matale.
He was a driver by profession. He had been struck by an elephant frequenting the road when he was riding his bicycle at about 4.00am to his place of work.
The deceased Ganga Brahmana Mudiyanselage Thusith Kumara (65) was a resident of Ambana area.
CCTV recordings at the scene revealed that he had attempted to flee when he noticed the wild elephant, but fell on the road with the bicycle, only to be trampled to death by the jumbo.
Naula Police are conducting further investigations.
