Low-pressure system North of Sri Lanka weakens; Final weather bulletin issued
Sri Lanka, May 17 -- The Meteorology Department says the low-pressure area located north of Sri Lanka has weakened, with its impact on the Bay of Bengal and surrounding sea areas gradually reducing.
Issuing Weather Bulletin No. 07 at 3.00 p.m. today (17), the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre stated that the latest weather analysis indicates the system is losing strength and no longer poses a significant influence over deep-sea areas of the Bay of Bengal and the sea areas around the island.
The bulletin was issued for fishermen and naval communities engaged in marine activities in deep-sea regions.
The Department also announced that this is the final bulletin regarding the low-pressure system.
