Sri Lanka, June 19 -- The current General Manager of Lanka Salt Company has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over extensive corruption charges.

The suspect, identified as Rannayaka Mudiyanselage Prassanna, was taken into custody this morning, in connection with an ongoing investigation.

According to the allegations, the General Manager had bypassed proper procurement procedures to secure an order of bags for the company. The flawed transaction reportedly caused a massive financial loss to the state amounting to nearly Rs. 14.3 million (Rs. 14,300,000/-) while providing an unlawful and unfair advantage to the supplying company.
