Sri Lanka, Feb. 25 -- A special program to grant legal land ownership to families who have lived for many years without proper rights was held yesterday (24) at the Anamaduwa Divisional Secretariat. The event was presided over by State Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Prof. Chandana Abayarathna.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that many residents in Anamaduwa, Nawagattegama, Karuwalagaswewa, Mahakumbukkadawala and Wanathavilluwa have lived under severe mental stress without legal ownership of the lands they occupy. He stressed that providing legal land rights to people born and raised in these areas is a key responsibility of the government.
