SriLanka, Oct. 8 -- Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed Kusal Mendis as the new captain of the national men's Test team.
The decision was taken by the SLC Selection Committee at a meeting held today at the board's headquarters.
Mendis' appointment follows the resignation of Dhananjaya de Silva as Sri Lanka's Test captain.
Mendis' first assignment as Test captain will be Sri Lanka's upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan.
Mendis has represented Sri Lanka in 75 Test matches and has played a total of 343 international matches across all three formats.
He now takes on the Test captaincy as Sri Lanka prepares for the upcoming series in Pakistan.
