Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara has alleged that certain individuals with ulterior motives are attempting to manipulate inmates to create unrest in prisons, while urging prisoners not to fall prey to the interests of a few individuals.

The Minister made these remarks during a special statement issued today (07) regarding recent incidents reported at several prisons.

Addressing the concerns of prisoners and their families, Minister Nanayakkara said one of the main issues identified over the past year was the delay in obtaining reports from the Government Analyst's Department, which had prevented some remand prisoners from obtaining bail.
