SriLanka, Oct. 1 -- Former Minister and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Head of Operations Johnston Fernando alleged that the Government was targeting those who oppose or challenge it through legal action, including remanding suspects and filing new cases.

Speaking to journalists near the Fort Magistrate's Court, Fernando said the SLPP had expected such developments and claimed that remanding and imprisoning government opponents had become a policy of the present administration.

"We expected things like this. Remanding and imprisoning those who oppose or challenge the government is this administration's policy," he said.
