Sri Lanka, March 23 -- Iranian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Dr. Alireza Delkhosh reaffirmed Iran's commitment to supporting Sri Lanka as a "friend country," stating that Tehran is ready to provide essential supplies, including oil, should the need arise.

Speaking at a special media conference at the Iranian Embassy in Colombo, the Ambassador addressed the escalating conflict in the Middle East and its potential impact on regional partners.

Ambassador Delkhosh said that despite the declaration of the Strait of Hormuz as a war zone due to ongoing hostilities, the vital maritime passage remains open to friendly nations like Sri Lanka.
