Sri Lanka, May 13 -- International Nurses Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale-regarded as the founder of modern nursing-was observed yesterday (12).

A commemorative event organized by the All Ceylon Nurses' Union was held at the auditorium of the Neurology Department of the Colombo National Hospital, bringing together health sector professionals and trade union representatives to honour the contribution of nurses to the healthcare system.

The event was held under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Mass Media Dr. Kaushalya Ariyaratne and Senior Specialist of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media Dr. Anil Jasinghe.
