Sri Lanka, Aug. 17 -- A hill country leopard ( Panthera Padus Kotiya) which was injured after being ensnared in two wire traps laid by poachers at Stonecrop estate in Dimbula Pathana Talawakelle was rescued by wildlife officials and released back to the forest yesterday after several days of treatment.

Wildlife officers said the well grown female leopard had received injuries in her neck and above the hind legs. They said it had undergone treatment for ten days since August 05 at the Randenigala Wildlife Veterinary Unit before it was released to the forest. Veterinaery Surgeon Dr. Akalanka Pinidiya had treated the animal for ten days.
