Sri Lanka, April 24 -- The Department for Registration of Person (ID Office) warned that a certain party is misappropriating the name of the Department to obtain personal information and commit financial fraud.

The Department said that it is reported that they obtain the details through telephone numbers such as +94115226126, +0115226126 and mobile numbers 0771167739 and 0742756098 using the Department's hotline 115226126.

Information has been received that this party has created a mobile application (APP) using the national emblem and register people's information claiming for a Digital Identity Card or an Electronic National Identity Card, misusing the Department's name.
