High Court acquits technical officer in Rs. 40,000 bribery case
Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- The Colombo High Court today acquitted a Technical Officer who had been charged with soliciting a bribe of Rs. 40,000 on two occasions and accepting a total of Rs. 40,000 in two instalments of Rs. 20,000 each.
The accused had faced charges relating to the alleged solicitation and acceptance of bribes in connection with his official duties.
At the conclusion of the prosecution case, Counsel appearing for the accused made an application submitting that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case warranting the accused being called upon to enter his defence.
