High COL has prompted Sri Lankans to produce less children: FLSP
Sri Lanka, Oct. 5 -- High cost of living has prompted Sri Lankans to produce less children and also it is the reason why the child population in the country has been reduced by 100,000, Frontline Socialist Party Executive Member Duminda Nagamuwa said.
"Sri Lankans have become reluctant to produce children and they cannot afford to spend for children. Those who shouted about forced sterilization of women are silent about it" Nagamuwa said.
"There are other social issues which would arise as a result of high cost of living. There will be unrest in families as a result of financial constraints while some may be compelled to commit crimes, " he added.
