Sri Lanka, Nov. 4 -- Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today, with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm likely in several provinces, the Department of Meteorology warned.

According to the Department, fairly heavy falls are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Western and Southern provinces, as well as in the Mannar district.

The Department also cautioned the public to take adequate precautions to minimise potential damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
