Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, the Department of Meteorology said.

According to the department, cloudy skies will prevail over these areas, while heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa Province and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Meanwhile, strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph are expected at times over the North Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-Western provinces, the Meteorology Department warned.
