Sri Lanka, May 22 -- Continuous heavy rainfall experienced from Thursday night (21) has disrupted transport and daily life in several areas, with parts of the Colombo-Avissawella High Level Road going under water at Hingurala and Eswatta, causing severe traffic obstruction on Friday morning.

Vehicle movement, including bus services, came to a complete standstill in the affected sections due to flooding.

Train services on the Kelani Valley railway line were also delayed after trees fell onto the track, blocking operations, railway sources said.

Meanwhile, several houses in the Padukka area were inundated, while the Padukka-Hanwella Road and the Ingiriya-Colombo Highway were submerged following the overflow of the Puswelioya Canal.
