Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- The heat index, or the temperature felt by the human body, is expected to rise to the 'Caution' level in several areas of seven districts during the daytime, the Department of Meteorology warned.

The advisory applies to Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain cautious during the daytime, particularly when engaging in outdoor activities, as the combination of high temperatures and humidity could increase heat-related risks.

The public is advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and take adequate precautions during periods of high heat.
