Sri Lanka, July 14 -- A 12-year-old schoolgirl suffering from a urine infection was examined by the doctors, to find that she had been raped at times for two years by her grandfather.

The 54-year-old suspect is the father of five sons, and the victim is the daughter of one of them, living near the suspect's house.

On information from the hospital, Gampola Police that initiated investigations arrested her grandfather and produced him before Gampola Magistrate Sarasi Sri Paranamana, who remanded him till July 24.

Police told court that the girl's mother has been employed abroad for about four years and that the girl had been first raped by the suspect when she was ten years old and since then continually raped her.
