Sri Lanka, July 31 -- The Government is planning to permit the private sector to purchase the dengue vaccine once the approval was granted to the vaccine in Sri Lanka, Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said yesterday.

He told reporters that the process of approving the dengue vaccine in Sri Lanka is in the final stage and that private sector will be allowed to purchase the vaccine in the first stage.

The Minister said steps are also being taken to adopt the Wolbachia mosquito control method for one and half yeas starting from September this year.

Dr. Jayatissa said he was expecting that these measures will contribute to control the spread of dengue in the country.
