Govt. moves to standardize building rules nationwide
Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- The Government has launched a national initiative to formulate and establish Sri Lanka's first-ever National Building Code of Sri Lanka (NBCSL), in a move aimed at strengthening the safety, quality, sustainability and disaster resilience of buildings across the country.
Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd.) chaired a meeting on the initiative at the Ministry of Defence on October 8, with the participation of senior officials from the National Building Research Institute (NBRI), National Planning Department, Urban Development Authority (UDA) and Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA).
