Govt. assures no adverse decision over Iranian vessels
Sri Lanka, Oct. 5 -- Amid growing concerns over the presence of Iranian vessels anchored off Sri Lanka's territorial waters, the government has assured that no decision detrimental to the country will be taken regarding the vessels.
Government Spokesman and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said over the weekend that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking necessary action on the matter. He added that Sri Lanka continues to maintain a neutral and non-aligned policy when addressing issues related to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
According to the Minister, Sri Lanka's approach to matters concerning the Middle East conflict has been appreciated by the parties involved as well as by the international community.
