Government to seek legal advice on action against private fuel companies
SriLanka, Oct. 7 -- The government will seek legal advice on possible action against private fuel companies if they continue to restrict fuel supplies and inconvenience the public, Energy Minister Anura Karunathilake told Parliament today.
The Minister said the government does not currently have the authority to order private fuel companies to supply fuel to their fuel stations. However, the Ministry has instructed the companies to maintain minimum fuel stocks in the country in accordance with the agreements entered into with them.
He said a discussion with private fuel operators is scheduled to take place today at the Presidential Secretariat. If the companies continue to limit fuel supplies, the government will seek legal advice on ...
