Sri Lanka, Sept. 29 -- Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today to give evidence in connection with the case relating to the disappearance of political activists Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganandhan in Jaffna in 2011.

The Jaffna Magistrate's Court had permitted Rajapaksa to give evidence via online video following a request by his lawyers, who informed Court that he would face difficulties travelling to Jaffna due to security concerns.

Accordingly, Rajapaksa was ordered to appear before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today and provide his evidence before the Jaffna Magistrate's Court via online video.
