Global diesel price hike still a matter of concern for CPC
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- The continuous rise of diesel is still a matter of concern for Sri Lanka, an official said yesterday.
The average price of diesel around the world is 1.56 U.S. Dollar per litre. Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) D.J. Rajakaruna told Daily Mirror that diesel prices had been rising faster than crude oil benchmarks. He said that Sri Lanka imports a certain amount of diesel in addition to refining crude oil for the purpose. Diesel is heavily used in transportation, power generation and farming activities.
He said that it would be challenging at the next price revision.
"We can manage petrol prices. Still, petrol prices have not come down," he said.
