Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- A fuel price revision could be introduced by the end of September, after taking into consideration the rise in global fuel prices and the prevailing situation in the Middle East, Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka said today (14).

He made the remarks in response to questions from journalists regarding fuel shortages reported by several fuel distribution companies.

The Minister said that although fuel prices in the international market have increased, fuel is currently being sold in Sri Lanka at comparatively lower prices.

Several private fuel distribution companies have informed the Government that continuing operations under the current circumstances has become challenging, he said.
