Fr. Mathew Peiris was allowed to wear religious attire: Wajira
SriLanka, Oct. 12 -- United National Party (UNP) Chairman Wajira Abeywardena said today that Rev. Fr. Mathew Peiris, an anglican priest, who was charged with two murders, was brought to court wearing his religious attire, a white cassock.
"We are not finding fault with allowing Fr. Peiris to wear his religious attire. The issue is the alleged targeting of Buddhism by the authorities," he said.
