Sri Lanka, Sept. 24 -- The Irrigation Department has extended the flood warning issued for the Kuda Ganga sub-basin of the Kalu River for a further 48 hours.

The department said the warning, which was initially issued at 9.30 a.m. on September 20, has been extended due to the prevailing conditions in the area.

Residents living in low-lying areas of the Kuda Ganga sub-basin have been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

The Irrigation Department has also advised motorists travelling on roads, particularly secondary and rural routes passing through the affected areas, to exercise extreme caution due to the risk of flooding.
