Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Sri Lanka's unique wildlife, plants and ecosystems are facing growing pressure from extreme weather, with droughts, floods, landslides, rising temperatures and changing rainfall patterns posing serious challenges to species that depend on fragile and limited habitats.

Research Professor D.S.A. Wijesundara of the National Institute of Fundamental Studies highlighted these concerns in a presentation titled "Impact of Extreme Weather Events on Sri Lanka's Biodiversity and Ecosystems."

The report was recently presented to the Parliamentary Climate Causes Expert Committee, highlighting the growing impact of extreme weather events and climate-related changes on Sri Lanka's biodiversity and ecosystems.
