Sri Lanka, April 20 -- Former Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training, Piyasena Gamage, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over corruption charges, was today ordered to be released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.

The Magistrate granted two sureties of Rs. 2 million each on the suspect and further ordered that a travel ban be imposed, preventing him from leaving the country.

Investigating officers informed court that the suspect was arrested for allegedly committing the offence of corruption by abusing his powers as the Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training and recruiting 134 minor employees from the Galle District to the Departm...
