SriLanka, Aug. 15 -- Eleven crew members of a Sri Lanka Navy fast attack craft that encountered distress in the seas off Angulana have been rescued and admitted to hospital, while one person remains missing, Police said.

The incident occurred while the vessel was on a routine patrol in the area.

Following the incident, a search and rescue operation was launched involving the Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Police and local residents.

The rescued naval personnel were taken to hospital for medical evaluation.

Search operations are continuing to locate the missing crew member.
