Sri Lanka, March 11 -- The electricity trade unions have called off their strike action, which was launched following the dissolution of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

Twenty-five electricity trade unions launched a Trade Union action as they did not receive any favourable response from the six new state-owned companies formed following the dissolution of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

Following the suspension of the trade union action, Power and Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody said that he appreciates the decision taken by the trade unions to resume work.
