Sri Lanka, July 31 -- Sri Lanka must prepare for possible severe weather impacts from the developing El Nino climate phenomenon, which could trigger extreme weather conditions globally, a senior climate expert has warned.

Speaking to media, Senior Professor Buddhi Marambe of the University of Peradeniya said the current El Nino event developing in the Pacific Ocean is presently at a weak level but is expected to intensify in the coming months.
