Sri Lanka, Sept. 23 -- At the time of this writing on Tuesday, a Trial-at-Bar of the Colombo High Court was expected to deliver the verdict on the landmark trial on the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks in 2019.

In one of the most exhaustive court cases, the trial had 2,309 witnesses testify on behalf of the prosecution and a total of 23,270 charges filed against the 24 accused. One accused died in prison.

Among the accused were Mohammed Naufar alias Naufar Mavilavi, whom the FBI identified as the second emir of an Islamist cell, that pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, Mohamed Anwar Mohamed Riksan and Ahmed Milan Hayathu Mohamed.
