Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- Sri Lanka's dengue death toll has surpassed 70, rising to 71 as of today (20), while the total number of dengue cases reported so far this year has exceeded 93,000.

According to the latest data released by the National Dengue Control Unit, a total of 93,115 dengue cases have been reported across the country so far this year.

Of these, 7,777 cases have been reported during August alone.

The highest number of cases has been reported from the Gampaha District, with 19,825 cases recorded so far this year.

Colombo has reported 18,475 cases, followed by Kandy with 6,726, Matara with 6,066 and Kalutara with 6,013 cases.
