Dengue cases surpass 84,000
Sri Lanka, July 30 -- Sri Lanka has recorded 84,091 dengue cases so far this year, with the dengue-related death toll reaching 61, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The NDCU said the highest number of dengue cases has been recorded from the Gampaha, Colombo, Kandy, Matara, Kalutara, and Galle districts.
In July alone, 28,717 dengue cases have been reported to date, highlighting a significant rise in infections.
Meanwhile, the NDCU said 175 high-risk dengue zones remain across the country.
Authorities have urged the public to keep their homes and surroundings clean to prevent mosquito breeding.
