Dengue cases surpass 55,000 mark as June records highest monthly tally
Sri Lanka, July 1 -- Sri Lanka's dengue caseload has exceeded 55,000, with June alone accounting for more than 21,500 infections, according to the latest figures released by the National Dengue Surveillance System.
Data as of midnight on June 30 showed that 55,406 dengue cases and 32 deaths had been reported so far this year.
June recorded 21,565 cases, making it the worst-affected month of 2026 and accounting for nearly 39% of all infections reported this year.
This was a significant increase from 8,590 cases reported in May. Earlier this year, 7,866 cases were reported in January, 5,721 in February, 6,013 in March and 5,651 in April.
