Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- A deep-sea fish weighing approximately 300 kilogrammes was caught in the waters off Mannar yesterday (14), attracting considerable attention among fishermen and the public.

The fish, locally known as "Koppara," was caught in the nets of fishermen engaged in deep-sea fishing off the Mannar coast.

According to the fishermen, the fish is believed to inhabit deep-sea waters and has a long snout and the ability to swim at high speeds. Its unusually large size has drawn considerable attention.

Meanwhile, photographs taken by the fishermen alongside the fish have gone viral on social media.
