Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- A story published by the Daily Mirror on August 18, 2026, under the title 'Drug shortage puts cancer patients' lives at stake' came to light in Parliament today, with MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam questioning a shortage of an injection given to cancer patients.

Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa confirmed the story and said authorities had to stop the use of a consignment that had been imported because labels were missing from the syringes.
