Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- The Colombo Stock Exchange opened the week on a weak note on 28 September 2026, with both benchmark indices declining amid broad-based selling and exceptionally subdued investor participation.

The ASPI fell 93.56 points, or 0.44%, to close at 20,943.79, while the S&P SL20 declined 20.01 points, or 0.34%, to 5,920.72. The ASPI remained under pressure through most of the session and closed near the day's low.

The standout feature of the session was the exceptionally low market activity. Turnover fell to just LKR 595.97 million, the lowest daily turnover recorded YTD, with only 32.12 million shares traded.
