Sri Lanka, March 13 -- The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed the court that investigations have been concluded in the case filed against former Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa and two others over the alleged unlawful obtaining of compensation amounting to Rs. 8.85 million.
The case relates to an incident in which a building and other property, allegedly constructed illegally on land belonging to the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka in the Sevanagala area, were destroyed during the 2022 Sri Lankan protests. It is alleged that the accused exerted pressure on officials of the Office for Reparations and obtained compensation of Rs. 8,850,000 for the property.
