Sri Lanka, Sept. 26 -- Psychological counsellors have raised concerns about a growing pattern of sexual withdrawal among married men in Sri Lanka, saying a lack of intimacy is increasingly contributing to tension and conflict in relationships.

"Men in Sri Lanka are increasingly withdrawing from sexual relationships. Around 80% of those who seek counselling are women, and they report that their husbands gradually distance themselves from intimacy after marriage," a counsellor said.

Counsellors said the issue is particularly observed among men aged 35 to 45. Financial difficulties, work-related stress, family responsibilities and emotional exhaustion were identified as factors that can affect sexual desire and intimacy.
