Sri Lanka, Sept. 7 -- The catastrophic Nepal floods is a stark reminder about people's struggle for survival amidst rapid climate change events. The floods were triggered on Wednesday (August 26) after an ice-rock avalanche and glacial collapse blocked the flow of the Lhende tributary of the Bhote Koshi River. The resulting surge struck Timure near Nepal's border with Tibet, causing widespread destruction downstream. The debris flow and flooding travelled nearly 100 kilometres and impacted populated areas along the Lende Khola and Trishuli Khola rivers.
