Sri Lanka, April 10 -- A Police Constable attached to the Dharmapuram Police Station was arrested by officials from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on charges of soliciting and accepting a bottle of arrack as a bribe.

The suspect was arrested near the Dharmapuram Police Station.

The arrest follows a complaint lodged by a resident of Kilinochchi. According to the investigation, the victim had been riding a newly purchased motorcycle without license plates or a valid revenue license on April 8. The constable had initially demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to refrain from taking legal action regarding these traffic violations.
