Commotion in Parliament following warrant issued on MP Archchuna
Sri Lanka, July 24 -- A commotion flared up in Parliament after MP Ramanathan Archchuna claimed a warrant has been issued to arrest him for failing to attend courts today.
Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, who joined the crosstalk, said the MP should be allowed to speak in the House before taking action.
Deputy Speaker Rizvie Salih who responded said necessary action will be taken.
Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala said the MP should have informed the courts of his inability to attend courts today. An MP has to attend courts if he is an accused," he said.
