Sri Lanka, Sept. 24 -- Plans to introduce common standards for all preschools by 2027 were discussed at the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Women and Child Affairs.

The Committee, which met in Parliament on September 22, also discussed establishing a common training and certification system for preschool teachers.

Existing infrastructure shortcomings in preschools were also highlighted, with attention drawn to the need to address those issues as part of efforts to improve preschool education.
